Recruitment Track Timeline
Spring
Members receive a comprehensive introduction to the investment banking industry, covering key areas such as deal structures, firm roles, and current market trends. The spring curriculum also dives into essential technical concepts like accounting, valuation methodologies, and M&A analysis, all of which are foundational for interviews. In addition, students begin preparing for behavioral interviews and receive guidance on effective networking strategies with industry professionals.
Summer
Over the summer, members follow a structured self-study syllabus to deepen their understanding of technical and behavioral topics. Regular check-ins and mock interviews with junior mentors help sharpen interview skills, while students also begin crafting and refining their personal behavioral stories. To build momentum for recruiting, members start organizing a networking tracker to identify professionals they plan to reach out to in the fall.
Fall
Fall is focused on refining learned concepts, and applying skills in real-world scenarios through in-depth case studies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models. Members participate in weekly mock interviews with their assigned mentors to simulate the recruiting environment and receive targeted feedback. Networking efforts intensify as students begin reaching out to professionals in preparation for internship recruitment.
Mentorship
All UWIBA members are paired with a club upperclassman that has gone through the curriculum and landed an offer, along with an industry mentor currently working in an IB role, offering valuable insights to help members navigate their recruitment journey.
